Aaron McEuen for IATSE Local 99 MPTV Rep.

For over 35 years Aaron McEuen has had a wonderful career in the Science Museum & Planetarium Business. Passionate about Astronomy, he had his beginnings at the Hansen Planetarium. He got his feet wet with operating many aspects of the planetarium primarily Laser Light shows throughout the 90's. By 1992, Aaron established himself as an exceptional Digistar programmer. Being that Digistar was a video system projecting a 180°field of view, Aaron, found that he was right in the middle of his other passion, motion picture. He continued to build a reputation for himself as he developed his talents. In 1994 he joined Oasis Stage Werks as Shop Assistant. Then later moved to Rental Assistant Manager . He joined IATSE in 1996 with his first gig being Phantom of the Opera at Capital Theatre. Later this year, Evans & Sutherland (E&S) unveiled their 2nd generation Star System DigistarII. Aaron was hired to program “Nightwalk”, E&S's show for the Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. In the years to follow, he trained many E&S customers that purchased the DigistarII. 1997-98 Aaron moved to Columbus, GA as a Director for the Coca-Cola Space Science Center Omnisphere Theatre. He returned to Salt Lake to be a part of the team to build the Clark Planetarium. He was integral part of getting Digistar3 installed at the Clark, as it was the first museum in the world to have a Digistar3.

A pioneering moment in Aaron's career came when "The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket", the first ever children's FullDome motion picture, was released. This also brought Skywalker Sound to the forefront of Science Museum Planetarium Theatres. Including, Starlight Productions' premiere of "The Dark Side of the Moon" a Fulldome Video & Laser Show, also a first in Immersive Cinema.

Becoming evermore difficult managing and working for SL County and operating his business, Aaron decided to cut ties with the Clark Planetarium in late 2005. He continued to build his “Starlight Rocks” catalog, his FullDome Laser Rock Shows and “Starlight Express” & “ Starlight Academic Solutions” catalogs. Later he launched his K-12 Planetarium outreach business “StarSmart University” in 2012 and founded a Non-profit business, IC-Stars (International Children's Society of Technology, Arts, Reading, and Science) in 2017. To date, his work has reached well over 30 countries and 100's of museums all over the world all the while maintaining a working relationship with IATSE.

As of 2020 and the Covid Pandemic, the economics of the world has changed as we know it and the Science Museums took a rather heavy hit. He has been focusing more of his time with the Local 99. He has noticed the vacancy â€‹for MPTV Rep. and would like to apply his knowledge, skills and abilities to this organization to make a difference.
